Reflection

After finishing the film opening, I learned a lot of things. Before I began the project and was thinking of ideas for my film, I imagined different shots. I thought of different ways to stir the emotions of the viewers. I rationalized what I could film and how I could film it. I needed to keep in mind things like location, the weather, and the time of day for my film.  COVID19 caused a bit of change to my project as it was now harder to get together to film and school was closed. I believe that throughout this process, I have learned how to plan and manage a film production.

Quick Update

I decided to scrap the spy movie film opening and go with an entirely new film opening.  The story follows two teenagers who mysteriously swap bodies. Throughout the opening the teenagers are seen as visibly confused and worried.

Setting Discussion

The setting in which the film takes place is really important. The setting plays a huge role in helping build the theme, mood, and tone of the film. I'm doing a spy film, meaning that I need to find a theme that fits. My opening is going to involve three different parts. In these three parts the settings will change. The first part will open with the spy sitting in an ally. His face will be hidden but the rest of his body will be visible. The second part will take place in his car. He will be driving to a location that will be revealed in the third part. In the third part, the main character will arrive at a secret location, then there will be a gunshot.  The opening will create a mystery for the viewers. They wont see his face until the very end. In the very end it will show his face for a second with the flash of the gun shot. I have to research more to find the locations near where I live. I also have to figure out how I'm going to film without anyone else help.

Preliminary plot/s sub genre conventions

I have decided on a sub genre for the movie opening. I've decided to create a spy movie opening, I will introduce the main character in the movie opening. He will be  the hero for the fi lm as well. I hope that the movie opening will be able to also introduce what the spy's conflict is. I still need to figure out the setting for the movie opening.  A spy movie typically consists of a main character who has to complete a mission or series of missions. Mission impossible is one of the most well known spy action film series. The series follows Ethan Hunt, he is a world class spy. The film is filled with action, high speed chases, and fast paced scenes and explosions. In my opening I want to have the spy hero sneak around and look stealthy.  In my opening I want a mission briefing in which the main character is given their mission. Although I would like to do this,  I'm on the rocks about it. This is beacuse I don't want to give away the entire plot of the movie away. A m

Types of Action characters

There is a variety of different characters within an action film. I'm only doing an opening so I wont include all types of characters within my opening. A character type stands for the type of person that the actor will portray. Specific character types are present in almost every movie made. There are three main types of characters. The first type is the hero, this character type has the job of fighting the villain. The second character type is the villain. The villain comes in different shapes or forms, and could even be a group of people. The third and final type that I will be exploring is the sidekick. The sidekick is usually side by side with the hero and helps the hero throughout the movie.  The hero is focused on throughout the entire story. It is the character that is most developed throughout the movie, and typically gets the most screen time. Having a hero in my film will have the audience rooting for the hero. the hero should have a back story that is tragic and somew
